The 2004/2005 World Cup season starts this month with the World Cup to be held in Harbin, China, October 22 - 24. The second World Cup will be held in Beijing, China, October 29 - 31.

"Madison, WI - Interested in re-living the excitement of the Winter Olympic Games? Remember when Apolo Anton Ohno raced around the ice under the fierce pressure of the competing pack of skaters who were strategically jockeying to finish first? You will be able to experience all the energy of these high-caliber competitions when Madison plays host to the Bosideng/International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup Short Track competition November 26-28, 2004 at the Alliant Energy Center!
“We’re delighted to bring another world-class sporting event to Madison,” said Deb Archer, President & CEO of the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB). 'Madison is quickly becoming known as a destination capable of – and interested in – hosting world-caliber sports competitions.'"
Men and women athletes from 22 countries will convene in Madison for the Short Track World Cup. The GMCVB has estimated a direct spending impact of $1.03 million for the event. The World Cup is a high-level international competition and promises to give a preview of what’s to come for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turino, Italy. Short track speed skating has a worldwide following, and is very popular in countries like Korea and Canada.
Don’t miss this event at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin Friday, November 26th to Sunday, November 28th, 2004.
